A Real Paranormal Encounter

Several post ago I asked how many of you would be afraid if you witnessed some type of paranormal activity, even something simple such as an object moving on its own. Most people responded with a yes, and I have to admit, I was a little surprised by that.

Now, for those of you who seriously believe in ghosts, and answered yes, I have to ask, where does this fear come from? Personally, I think we’ve let Hollywood convince us that witnessing paranormal activity has to be a bone-chilling experience. It doesn’t—at least not always.

For those of you who don’t know, I live in a haunted house, and have for almost 27 years. My book, On Haunted Ground, tells the story of what it’s really like to live with ghosts.

An example of what I’m talking about happened today. I live in Oklahoma and we were experiencing a bad thunderstorm. When I went into the kitchen to get a drink there was a loud clap of thunder and the lights went out.

We’ve lost our electricity many times, so this wasn’t anything new. What was new was for a split second I thought my electric fragrance burner was still on. Looking into the dark dining room, I could see a light shining in that general direction. On closer inspection, I realized what I was seeing was a bright glowing orb hovering above the burner. The power, thank goodness, came back on and the light disappeared.

As always, I’d love to hear what you thought of my experience and if you’d like you can share some of your own.

  1. Hm I dont know how you can live like that then. I always say that if I find that my house is haunted I would go rightaway for I don't know the consequences...

And is normal to react like that for is NOT normal (yet) to see something from the other world. :)

  2. I understand where you're coming from but I think ghosts are much more common than what most people think. Example: When you are in a crowded room have you ever felt someone staring at you? Have you ever had that same feeling when you're alone?
